i know that we have missed the deadline for 2008, but i'd still like to discuss something we've been working on quietly for the last year, in summary.. it lets anyone - especially the non-technical - role out websites, template those websites and again roll them out. they can be rolled out by others as well..

conceptually this will allow for

1) building of really rich templates - imagine the drupal.org site .. as a fully featured site.. as a template
2) templates can include content, tags etc..
3) installing a template site.. currently takes.. c. 1min.. seriously

while i've been rolling out drupal sites with this for a year, i can see what we really need know is better functionality, theming, to make this really work well..

http://ukactuaries.com/ is an example of a site we rolled out in a few minutes
http://ukactuarialjobs.com/ is another..
http://readthischangeyourlife.com/

the interesting this is that it's already planned to tie into version control, installation profiles etc..
and also isn't locked to just drupal ,but any php, mysql (or in theory any codebase)
so you could easily build very rich sites

this is part of a vision we had of helping fund charitable projects.. lots of sites.. being rolled out easily, and at "0" relative cost
i'd really love to have some help from some great drupal people, or those that are interested in this.

if nothing else... we can give you access.. so you can roll out your own sites..and give us some feedback

I'm based in London, but available to talk whenever,

Really love to hear from you

we will also be launching opensourcemadeeasy.com and this will give the non-technical people access

Si
