I'm currently working on a contract basis with a retail/wholesale company in the Baltimore area that has a D6 site w/ Ubercart for e-commerce. I'm hoping to help them find a replacement to take over all managing all aspects of the site, and other duties like Broadcast e-mails, in the event that I move on to take a full time job with another company. I'm hoping to port it over to D7/Drupal Commerce before I leave. Currently it is hosted with a managed rackspace plan, so short of Drupal/other scripts breaking the site, Rackspace should be able to handle keeping the server online/patched and backed up, as well as advise on server software and their configurations.
Much of this job will be handling custom module development, as this company requires customizations to ubercart to handle special pricing levels, a special donation program where shipping address is obscured from shoppers, etc. Many of these modules are already in place, but they will like want to build on these or add new ones to accomplish others features like adding CRM functionality to Drupal's admin section.
What they're looking to find is someone who would be interested in working a guaranteed 20 hours a week on the site, and at times as many as 40. You wouldn't have to work in their office, but I think they'd prefer to have occasional meetings at their location.
What do you think a realistic hourly rate would be for this job? If anyone has a better resource for seeking out this info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello
Its hard to judge what kind of person you would need for this position without finding more about the position (whether it is maintaining content or development). if part of the responsibility would be completing a migration to D7 and further development, I would estimate 35-50 dollars an hour depending upon how much time you have to seek out a candidate and experience level.
Thanks for your feedback,
Thanks for your feedback, likely there will be very little content maintaining and more developing custom features through modules. ( I added a paragraph on that. ) They would likely be looking for someone with a high experience level where they could say we want feature X added to the shopping system, and the developer would be able to accomplish it, or occasionally with compromises in the event that is truly not something that could be feasibly done within the framework/rewriting everything.
Great Question
I would have to concur with Energee as that's a big difference between a more advanced web admin and a genuine developer particularly one that's specialized enough to understand D6 and D7 as well.
I'd agree with the range provided above assuming it was a true contractor and not a firm you we're looking to enter a contract. Most firms won't support those rates but will also offer the full breadth of services for the hours reserve per month. If you need anything just message me and good luck with your new job!
