Some of you may have noticed that Drupal Day Milan had a picture announcement on drupal.org. The advert was placed in the upper left corner of drupal.org's frontpage is the same place you see "Drupal Security", "Drupalcon D.C"
and other "ads".
When the Milan ad was approved Killes and I chatted a bit over email and he let me know that the infrastructure team is prepared to place an "AD" in that spot for regional Drupalcamps. The issue of more exposure for Drupalcamps, meetups, etc. is still being addressed and I have seen some decent work on the front in the new Drupal.org redesign. Until the redesign is finished and implemented this is a small step we can take.
If you would like to get an announcement for your camp up on drupal.org just create an image with the same dimensions (200x221) that complements the drupal.org theme (come'on now no blinking animated gifs) and submit a request to the infrastructure team.
There are only a limited number of spots available in the rotation algorithm and all requests will have to be approved before appearing on the site.

wonderful!
It's nice to see conflict and criticism end in productive action for the community. Thanks to anyone that pushed for this, grumbled, and especially to those that took action and made it happen.
oh....
There was definitely conflict and grumbling but Killes just pushed it through, so I commend and credit him for this. Eventually we'll get a sustainable process in place so that its fair/equitable for all.

Ad for the San Diego DrupalCamp
I'm taking Killes up on his lovingly strong-armed generosity and placing a request for the DrupalCamp San Diego ad to be placed into rotation. I've filed an issue with the infrastructure team on d.o, but until we all get a clearly defined set of rules for what constitutes good Drupal press and what doesn't, Killes, my friend, this is a great move. Thanks!
