I would really like to see this group become active. If you're reading this let me know if you'd like to meet up for coffee and discuss how to Drupalize San Antonio.

I manage content on our company website and I am not a power use by any means. I don't know PHP and I'm not a Linux person as well. The site was created by our former IT Manager before he left to take a position outside of the company. I joined to learn about Drupal from folks like yourselves who I consider to be the real experts.
Are there any local training possibilities for Drupal in San Antonio?

New to Drupal
I am looking at Drupal to see about possibly migrating my website over. The latest (but certainly NOT greatest) incarnation is http://www.eddiemcham.com/ ~ soon to become http://www.3ddie.com/.
I migrated eddiemcham.com from ASP Classic to PHP/MySQL about a year ago, and I was going to set up Access forms to act as my "content management system," but got stumped trying to decide on a look-and-feel. Am now taking multimedia courses at NW Vista College to help me get over that creative block. Meanwhile, I kept hearing Drupal, Drupal, and more Drupal. So in an effort to bring myself up to speed, here I am. When I read the newbie's overview, I got the impression Drupal already does a lot of what I was trying to manually. So why re-invent the wheel, right?
Unfortunately, between night school (Mon-Thu), church commitments (http://www.chfbc.org/), and my day job (see last paragraph), about the only time I can do meetings would probably have to be Saturdays or Sunday evenings.
As for my day job, I do website and database programming for Heartland National TB Center (http://www.heartlandntbc.org/). I use Classic ASP w/SQL Server and write all kinds of mail merges and macros to generate reports based on the SQL DB tables. I am, however, poking and prodding ASP.NET to see if I can improve on what we've done over the past 3 years. Only time will tell.
So that's me in a nutshell. Happy New Year! :^)

Hello antman and
Hello antman and eddie,
Welcome to the group. I'm interested in getting a Drupal San Antonio Group together, that actually meets, etc. Not a whole lot of luck so far - if you have any ideas for promotion and advertising let me know.
Antman - If you want to put up a basic drupal site, I could give you a few tips to get you started. you can reach me at heydemo at yahoo.com
Drupalista
Hey all! I'm a fellow Drupaler in SA. I'd definitley be interested in getting together with you guys and meeting every now and then! I work for a small web company out in Boerne called Digett. We do all out websites on Drupal. I created our site here: http://www.digett.com which is also on Drupal(6). Would be fun to meet some fellow Drupalers here in San Antonio!
SA Drupal Group - 1st meeting?
Hi Holly, Cool website. Welcome to the group :)
Now that we have a handful of people who are interested, I think we should pick a date / place, invite all our friends and have a meet up. It's the only way we'll get this group off the ground! I know a few others who might be interested as well. I would think Sunday would be the best meeting time.... Any ideas on a location? I'm located by huebner and I-10 myself....
Eddie, yes, groups.drupal.org is a separate login. It is kind of annoying....not sure the reason for this since I think there is a module that allows separate sites to share authentication.
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm already managing a Drupal site and want to learn more about the application. At the present time, I'm not interested in starting one of my own.
Confusion over my logins!!!!!
Ummm, can someone please confirm something for me?
Is my login for groups.drupal.org an entirely separate thing from my login at drupal.org? I created my account here yesterday, and as you can see I posted a couple of times (including this message).
A little while ago, I went to http://drupal.org, but it refused to recognize my login, and I wound up having to create a new account. I never got a confirmation email (even though I know I typed my email address correctly), so I went ahead and asked to reset my password there so I could finally get in.
Then I come back here and it took several tries before groups.drupal.org would recognize my original login and password!
So now I have two different login names ~ one for here, another for drupal.org, and I also discovered that passwords (apparently) cannot contain special characters. So I had to reset those as well. Can someone please confirm or correct me on that ~ and if that is true, then it would've been really nice for that information to be made known yesterday when I was first creating my account.
This is NOT a good first impression.....I haven't even had a chance to download or try Drupal yet, and already I'm wondering if this is the sort of thing I'll have to deal with if I start using it. I am hoping someone can help clarify these issues for me.
Eddie, Chances are that you
Eddie,
Chances are that you now have 2 accounts. If you want to only use one then you can sign into groups.drupal.org using your drupal.org username in the format of douser@drupal.org where douser is your drupal.org username.
Not sure about the passwords issue.
Discovering Drupal
I just got started on using Drupal when my family asked me to design a website for their business. I saw it on my web hosting company website for free. So far I have completely dived in head first. I got the O'Reilly Drupal book to help me and I'm slowly finding my way around all the modules. I would be great to swap ideas with "non-virtual" Drupalers who are local to San Antonio.
New to drupal, not to san antonio
Greetings,
Old school web designer here. I'm working with an company in Australia and learning drupal. Would love to become active in this group. Definitely a newbie though.
