We had a good meetup at JJ's tonight, and sketched out a framework of three focused learning meetings for October, November and December.
More time, venue* and program details will follow in the next few weeks, but here's a quick topic overview:
A 3-part series will cover introductory, intermediate and advanced essentials for Drupal Theme Development, with a focus on Drupal 7. The plan is to model these meetings on a "lecture and workshop" format, with three, monthly presentation and Q&A sessions, supplemented by weekly workshop sessions at our regular Thursday meetups for in-depth questions & trouble-shooting, etc.
Oct 4th - Drupal's Theme System and implementation layers (how it works)
- Info files, templates, variables (what they are, how to print them)
- Regions
- Subthemes…
Nov 1st - Leveraging themes from other modules (with an in-depth look at Views theming)
Dec 6th - Advanced theming concepts, including…
- Theme function overrides
- Theme pre-process functions
- build_alter & form_alter
- D7 devel_themer (a separate module in D7)
*Speaking of venues, we're looking for an A/V, Wi-Fi equipped conference or classroom style venue that can host 15-20+ Drupalers and has available, free parking. If you can help us acquire such a space, please contact me or leave a comment.

Looking for the group
Hello all,
My name is Ryan. I showed up at jj's. Would really like to get involved. Please contact me via email, and I will respond with phone #, etc. I am looking for new projects, and to continue to develop my skills while working on a local drupal team. If anyone is looking for a new teammate, let's talk. If you're currently at jj's... I'm the bearded guy with a motorcycle helmet.
We were there. We're here.
We were there. We're here. We're the noisy people with all the computers with Drupal sites running on them!
