Still not sure if the message is legit, but when I checked my inbox today there was a message purported to be from the Admin of this group saying:

Heshan (the maintainer of the Video module) has contacted me to ask if I would produce a series on his module. After thinking a while, I thought it would be awesome if some people who would benefit from that series would chipin to reduce the cost to Heshan, and get the video made sooner. So I decided to start a chipin for the Video module. If you would be interested in that series, make a donation to show your interest, and I'll make it happen!

P.S. - The sooner money comes in, the sooner I will be able to produce the series :)

------------- end quote ---------------

I, for one, am NOT a Drupal developer though I have over 20 years experience in web programming. Most of which involves the creation of traditional web pages, JavaScript, and now theme creation for Drupal installs. In addition to that work, I have also been creating software tutorials since 1995. Not that there is too much evidence of this on my own site or in my YouTube channel as I became ill with cancer in 2009 and am slowly recovering from those treatments. (Meaning, my business & work had come to a stand still for over 2 years.)

In short, if this is a legit request, I find it highly offensive that the 'chip-in' fund targets one individual. I know for a fact others besides myself are capable of producing high quality tutorials. In fact, prior to the onset of my illness, I know I watched several of them on Drupal topics. So, again, I see no reason why a 'chip-in' request should benefit one single person.

My hope is that this is a spoofed message and not genuine, as I can't see any sign of it here in this group.
