This is an introductory course aimed at all who want to understand Drupal and develop the most useful Drupal skills quickly. This course is focused, engaging and enjoyable. It covers the key Drupal principles, concepts and techniques with a clear focus on the latest major version of Drupal - Drupal 7. At the end of this training day you will be able to build fully featured, client-pleasing Drupal websites - and all without any coding at all.

No prior experience with Drupal 7 required. No coding experience or prior website building experience needed. Experience with other CMS systems useful but not essential.

Following this course attendees will be able to:
* Understand what Drupal is and what it can do
* Install Drupal - both single site and multi-site installations are covered
* Structure your drupal website - menus, blocks etc.
* Manage users effectively on your Drupal website
* Manage content: taxonomy, introduction to custom Content Types etc.
* Use the Fields UI to create custom content
* Use Views to produce lists of the content you need to display to your visitors and website users
* Theme Drupal - understanding options for providing an effective and attractive front-end to Drupal
* Deliver essential SEO ...ensuring that your site ranks as highly as possible

Requirements:
* Attendees provide their own Internet-ready laptop.
* Attendees simply need to be comfortable using a computer and a browser (downloading files from Internet etc.)
* NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF DRUPAL NECESSARY

About the trainer - Ian Fairbairn:
With a Physics degree, Qualified Teacher Status and, above all, significant Drupal commercial experience - I bring to bear a professional approach that leads to quality - be that in training outcomes or with client-pleasing Drupal websites.
I have worked as a software/technology trainer and a web-developer & consultant for a number of large organisations - most recently: Panasonic UK, Nokia UK, Exxon Mobil UK and Software AG.
My most relevant key skills are Drupal, PHP, mySQL, UML, XML, XSL, CSS, & SEO (I have significant integration middle-ware knowledge & experience too). I have worked on a number real-world, Drupal projects, both large and small, over the past four years.
I develop and deliver my own carefully constructed Drupal training courses. I have significant experience here - having trained for some large corporations including Oracle (Oracle/Siebel CRM platform) and for the industry leading IT training company in London - Learning Tree International (courses on Web Development, XML and UML). I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher too (BSc PGCE - don't you know) so you can rest assured training is professional, focused, well paced and engaging.
