Hi all, I'm considering moving to either Saudi Arabia or Emirates, and am wondering about work there. I'm a web/print designer and I have some strong theming abilities with drupal.

I'm french, living in Canada (vancouver), and I hope to be able to move to the middle east in a year or two. Is there anyone who could help me? Any website or agency I should look into ?

What type of help you needed in Saudi Arabia? Work related? Anyway a general information about different formalities is available here in http://workinginsaudiarabia.blogspot.com/
In general here, the open source community is very rarely seen. In fact I was asking for a php programmer in my circle and no one available! Major software companies are dominated here and software market is still unexplored. There are lots of reason for this.

Thanks for the link, I'll investigate this way.
I noticed that it is quite hard to find any sign of the drupal/web activity from saudi/eau on the web, and I guess that it's because there is not much company that develop websites there. But I wonder if I should consider this as a bad sign because of low demand, or a good sign because web designers are hard to find so I might find a job easily...
I'll make sure to update this thread with what I find :)

There are plenty of web developers and designers. Try to look for Arabic sites and discussion boards from Saudi.
Language is a major obstacle for expatriate like me. You should learn Arabic if you don't know. That will be a major help. Then culture, that also you should understand, (assuming you are from France).

Hello, I'm from Saudi Arabia. Working in SA these days is hard due the world finacial crisis. Language is not the only barier, but mainly the culture of people here which could be very challenging for any one. If you let us know your objectives of traveling to SA or Emirates, that will help me understand how I can help and share my knowledge with you.
There are many job opportunities here ... but you need to be very selective so you meet your targets and expectations.
