Just want to get an idea of how many people we have in the Okanagan doing Drupal development / implementation. Post a quick reply introducing yourself and your interests in Drupal.
If I see enough people I can then start to figure out if it would be worthwhile to have a get together to have a discussion.

Shawn - Kelowna - Developer
I will start it off with a quick introduction of myself. Been working on Drupal development for the last year mainly in Drupal 5 but have been getting up to speed on Drupal 6. I am working as a Senior Web Applications Developer at Acro Media Inc. in Kelowna.
I am mainly a developer of modules but have done work on the theming side of things as well. Been trying to keep active in the community but haven't had a chance to make available my work as of yet.
I started my career as a database administrator / developer before focusing on my DBA skills for a couple years. After that I switched over to be more focused on software development and have been a software developer for the last six or so years. Starting off in Cold Fusion then moving into Java development. Spent a few years doing Java development before moving out to the Okanagan where I got into C++ and PHP. Now mainly focused with Drupal development and enjoying it.
Hey there, I'm a freelancer
Hey there,
I'm a freelancer that works mainly in Drupal 6 and Ubercart based out of Kamloops. I started a video blog where I'll be posting tutorials on various Drupal related themes when I have time.
I've been using Drupal for the last 4 years and enjoy it. I've developed several modules and themes for Drupal, but all were funded by clients and not generic enough to be useful to the public, so I haven't released anything.
Is there anyone else using Drupal in Kamloops? It's doesn't seem like much of a tech community. I started out in web development in Victoria after graduating from UVic. Gotta love the spooky technology park in Vic.
The tech community in Kelowna
The tech community in Kelowna is pretty quiet; I had a tough time as a university student connecting with many companies. Quite frustrating going to school in the 'silicon vineyard', and not knowing who is actually out there to hire you when you finish your degree.
Hopefully more people keep popping up in this group, since freelancing can be especially isolated.
Silicone vineyard, nice!
Silicone vineyard, nice! It's too bad it doesn't hold up to the name. Kamloops is more of a logging town, but has a few small web dev shops around town.
Geoff - Kelowna
I'm a fourth (and half) year computer science student at UBC-O. I really got into programming a little over five years ago with PHP, developing a couple web-applications. I worked for a period at a local software company developing intranet apps, and for the past year have worked with a research project at the university primarily developing a large data management application.
I first evaluated Drupal about 6 months ago, and over the past couple months have been working to develop and upgrade websites for a few clients with it.
@ShawnTuatara I'm glad to find out that one of the local web design firms uses Drupal. Most of them seem to use their own system, rather than working with FOSS apps.
Daniel - Kelowna - Developer
Hi! I'm a freelance Drupal developer and I do some theming and module development from time to time. I've been using Drupal with our clients for over 3 years and I presented at Drupal Con Alberta in 2008. My development background goes back probably about 10 years focusing mostly on LAMP development but I do the occasional .Net app when necessary.
It's cool to see such a vibrant tech community in Kelowna. Are you guys heading to the Vancouver conference?
Cheers,
Daniel
Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit
If you mean the PNDS in October, I will be trying to. I'll be in Vancouver for Jack Johnson at GM Place on the first, and I'm hoping to be able to stick around for the weekend.
I was upset for a good month that Drupalcon SF was during final exams; if it was a week later I would have gone.
Melody - Kelowna - Website administrator (learning as I go)
Hi, I manage a Drupal website and am learning as I go. Have no IT education but things up pretty well. Would love to get together and discuss website management or even to find out where to get some training in it so I can do the best administration I can. Editing content is pretty straightforward it is the rest that I stumble with.
Training in Drupal
Hi Melody, Should you find yourself in Victoria we could certainly organize some custom Drupal training for you.
you can email me; richard at vsbt dot ca . ;)
I don't think there's anyone
I don't think there's anyone doing Drupal training in the Okanagan, but if you have any quick questions I'd be glad to do my best to help out.
Hey Okanagan Folks. Cheeky
Hey Okanagan Folks.
Cheeky Monkey Media is a Drupal development shop based in Kelowna. I've been working with Drupal for the passed 5.5 to 6 years now, started with Drupal 4.6 and now spend half the time in D6 and D7. Anyone wants to meet up and kick ideas around hit me up, as well checkout http://okdg.org/ as it's our local development group and it's growing.
Cheers,
Gene Bernier
Drupal Kelowna
Hey Group,
I'm also from Kelowna and have been working with Drupal since 2009. My first experience was with a D5 e-commerce site and have been making new sites ever since. I started building websites at night and launched a new website at http://www.nighthawkmedia.ca to showcase a few of the recent sites Ive made using Drupal.

I thought I'd take a moment
I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I'm Jonathan. I'm currently living in Kelowna. I've been an old fashion, code-by-hand developer for many years, but I've recently been exploring Drupal. Nice to meet you all.
Hey Jonathan and all, good to
Hey Jonathan and all, good to know there are few more Drupal developers kicking around town. We are always on the look out for good developers to work with, especially if they are local.
Would love to hear more about your experiences.
We just got back from DrupalCon in Denver and would love to get an Okanagan Drupal group really going here.
Cheers,
Gene Bernier
Drupal
I am managing a Drupal Website with little knowledge of how this works; any suggestions on training?
