Node and Field Reference

Is there way to avoid field copying from referenced nodes by using rules? Is there a way to grab just a reference to any field in the referenced node?
For instance, there can be a database of cars (content type A) with a bunch of fields containing info. Then we can create content type B for dealers to choose cars they have on their lot - autosuggest in the node-ref field. Then if we want to get values of some other fields from content type A, we can use rules to get that data. While Rules allow us to load the referenced node and then copy field values from the fields in Node A to Node B. But is what if price changes? Then what was copied would be out of date in content type B. Is there a pure reference solution? Does anyone know? Is there a way to make sure that if there is a change in field value in the main content type, the change can we propagated across all dependent fields?

Thanks!
