Should be a super DrupalCamp with lots of conversations about Drupal for teaching learning!

Really looking forward to meeting all of you. Hopefully the edu and non-edu crowds can find common ground on certain design topics. Oddly enough I've often found that those working outside of the edu-focused Drupal sector often come up with some of the coolest ideas for it :)

When's the schedule going up for it?

Need any presenters?

dougvann's picture

Hello Wisconsin!
linclark can vouche for me. She saw me present 6 sessions at the Chicago Drupal Camp October of 2008. Most of those were Drupal Intro classes. Since then I delivered the Drupal KickStart sessions at the www.CMSExpo.net with co-presentor Matthew Leichlider. Here in Indiana I'm the founder and leader of the local DUG that for a while was meeting twice a month because we had more topics to learn about than we had time to cover them.
I don't know how your camp sessions are coming together. Maybe you have things nicely buttoned up. But if you need some one to spend some quality time going over CCK, Views, Webform, Taxonomy, Nice Menus, or most anything else, I am willing to make the 5.5 hour trip up to be there.
My friend and fellow Indiana group leader Aaron Dudenhofer is an excellent Drupal themer who is growing his repetoir of screencasts. He is also interested in joining me if I head up for Wisconsin DrupalCamp.
Let us know if you are in need and we'll talk about it.
Use my contact form from D.O or from my blog.
Thank you!

Packing List: Laptop loaded with...

ranoble's picture

I'm borrowing a laptop to bring to DrupalCampWI because I don't usually have one. What should I have loaded on it besides an operation system?

Firefox ;) This is related

btopro's picture

Firefox ;) This is related to the organizers, do you require a specific VPN to connect wirelessly there or what's the wireless setup going to be so I know to bring a patch cable or not.

Wireless

lmshawl's picture

Wireless access will be available for registered participants :0)

Just bring your laptop with wifi

jct's picture

Here at UW, we use a captive portal. All participants will have wifi login information listed on the back of their nametag. All you need to do is browse to any webpage and log in!

As for software, I'm sure we all have our favorites. A good thing to do might be to ask around as I'm sure many use open source programs that you could download and install right at the conference.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Um, that's operatING system blush

If you'd like to play along,

blakehall's picture

If you'd like to play along, with a local drupal install something like the Acquia stack installer might be a good idea:

http://acquia.com/downloads

It will give you a full Apache, PHP, MySQL, Drupal environment to play with.

From past conference

btopro's picture

From past conference experiences, having Twitter, Flickr and YouTube accounts are probably good too so you can quickly post about things. I also know Twitter makes for a good back-channel in Q/A sessions if they get real big. Might want something like Twirl installed to make it even easier to jump in

Should we set up a conference hashtag? How about #drupalwi --

Hashtag

blakehall's picture

That sounds good to me... We're using the <a href="http://twitter.com/drupalcampwi>@drupalcampwi twitter account, but it's a bit long as a hashtag. I'm fine with using either, but it would be handy to agree on one.

Got my parking permit

ranoble's picture

They put me in Lot 85 rather than 60 or 76. That's the one south of Rennebohm Hall. Entrance is on Observatory Drive.

Lot 85

lmshawl's picture

Lot 85 is very convenient for Friday. You'll just have to remember to park in Lot 60 or 76 on Saturday, as those lots are free to park in on Saturday, while Lot 85 requires a permit at all times.
