HAPPY New year Bay Area Drupal Community!!

2012 the year of the Dragon is going to be a GREAT year for Drupal!!

We are starting off the year with a topic which we have never had at a SFDUG meetup and that is Mapping and Drupal, a topic which we have all come across before and wondered how to do right.

There is a new O'Reilly book out on the topic and we are lucky some of the Authors of the book are coming to present to us.

Patrick D. Hayes & Alan Palazzolo will present "Mapping with Drupal"

Some topics that might be covered: - What is spatial data? Points vs. Lines vs. Polygons vs. MultiShapes - What is a projection and why should I care? - Spatial Search - Displaying data on a map - Auxiliary data: Tiles and WMS oh my! - postGIS and geoPHP? Modules that might be covered: - GeoField - Geocoder - Address Field - OpenLayers - Apache Solr / Search API

I hope you can come on down and join us, this is the meetup to come to if you are working on any Mapping and Drupal projects.

I am starting to look for a person to head up the Senior Developers helping Senior Developers sessions which we will be starting in 2012.The purpose of these sessions is to have a place once a month where senior Drupal developers can sit with each other and share information and solve problems. The person who would head this up would be responsible for making sure the meetings happen each month.

SFDUG SPONSORSHIPS: If your company would like to sponsor SFDUG's drinks please contact me for details. I would like to see some more local shops sponsor SFDUG so please consider it and email me.
