hi folks,
i'm in Madison this week for my day job (believe it or not, i'm academic staff at UW-Madison in the computer science department, even though i live in Oakland, CA). i was thinking it might be fun to try to throw together a drupal meet-up of some sort while i'm here. maybe wednesday 2006-12-13 after work? i don't know if there's a standard place where madison meetups have happened in the past... we could certainly do it on campus somewhere (especially easy for me if we did it in the CS department, or union south, etc). or, we could hit a coffee shop or something (i think y'all met at cafe assisi once before, if memory serves me right -- i played a few gigs there when i still lived out here grin).
i'd be happy to chat about the new release system, project.module stuff, etc. i could also talk about event management and my plans for the signup module (which i also maintain). we could also talk about the drupal sites i'm building in the CS department at UW. personally, i'd be happy to just meet other madison drupalistas, find out who you are, what you're using drupal for, etc, etc...
sorry for the short notice, but this trip kind of came out of no where, and it just occured to me on the flight here that i should post something to this group and see if anyone's up for a meeting.
please comment here ASAP so we can figure out if it's worth making an event for it.
thanks!

wednesday sounds good
i'm down for Wednesday. Last time we met at Michelangelo's on the 100 block of State St. That works well for me. 5pm-7:30pm, ish?
I'm interested in talking about the following things right now:
• proflies as nodes and custom profiles in general
• ecommerce (for JustCoffee.net)
• drupal freelancing
• intro to CVS / release system

so is this a go?
i'm going to assume no one else is planning to show unless i see another confirmation.

seems like not :(
sorry, TechMosaic just emailed me to say he can't come, there's not exactly an outpouring of interest in a meeting, and i got sick last night -- so i'm feeling totally under the weather, and not really up for it.
i guess next time i'm coming i'll try to plan something with more advanced warning and make it official.
better luck next time...

Would like to meet ya - if I can
I am still a noob, but if there is a meeting where I can sit at the feet of the master, then count me in.
Also, I have a part time appointment as faculty at UW-Milwaukee, working on academic computing, so I would love to hear about what you are doing for your day job as well.
Weather and last minute scheduling issues aside, I would drive to Madison if there is enough interest.

Madison is kind of a haul
Madison is kind of a haul for those of us who don't get home until 6pm or later.
Have you guys heard about Web414? If you're in MKE, its definitely an option. I think we are actually talking about Drupal at our meetup tomorrow night. Check it out: http://web414.com

Oops.
I can't believe I just checked g.d.org...
If you're still around, and feeling better I'd love to get together later this week. If not we'll definitely try and organize something better next time. (I could just about guarantee at least two others would attend as well).
Drupal related things keeping me busy lately:
Not sure how flexible your travel dates might be dww, but it seems like BarCamp Madison will be happening in late February or early March. It would be great to have Drupal well represented (so I'm not the only one talking about it!).
