A lot of stream websites will include listener count information on their site. This is also a pertinant piece of information to include in the DCMA requirements. I have a few ideas about streaming server integration which I would like to suggest for comments.
Icecast2 has a built-in .xsl file which presents information about the streams such as current listeners. I would like to suggest adding to the module a count aggregated from the current number of listeners from the /status2.xsl file on icecast2 streaming servers. This seems to be a popular piece if information.
If the station module gets to a point where we are inputing the current plays, it shouldn't be a far reach to add this metadata to the icecast2 streams. The stream location and the admin username and password would be needed to post this metadata to the stream. There is also the consideration that one may be using multiple streaming servers. If multiple streams are added with weighting, it might be possible for the module to auto-create a .m3u or .pls file for the site links with primary and alternate streams built into the file link.
