We had a great response to our Drupal n'Go competition from charities, not-for-profits and voluntary groups all across Ireland. We received almost 50 applications, each of which was a particularly compelling case, with urgent needs, which made it a difficult decision to make.

However, we're pleased to announce that the two lucky winners are:

Rural Science Association

The Rural Science Association is a nascent professional organisation which comprises individuals from all parts of Ireland (generally residing in rural areas) who hold or are currently studying to obtain a formal qualification in the discipline of rural development. The Organisation was formally launched at their inaugural conference which was held in May last year. Membership numbers currently stand at c. 70. In addition to its inaugural conference, the Rural Science Association has, to date, organised two weekend workshops which sought to act as 'think tanks' on how to progress rural development in the emerging 'new economy'.

Zikomo Ireland

Zikomo Ireland is a Galway-based registered charity group that is committed to fostering long-term self-sufficiency in southern Malawi. They work in partnership with rural communities to ensure that our projects have a lasting, positive impact on people's lives in one of the poorest regions in the world.

Additional prize - Shadowbox Theatre Company

We also decided to do a small basic website for the Shadowbox Theatre Company who lost their main funding earlier this year.

Shadowbox Theatre Company was formed in 1998, recognising the need for high quality professional arts work for people who may have little access to mainstream arts activity in Ireland. The company has worked extensively in the following two areas:

  1. On reminiscence and theatre projects involving various groups of older people around Ireland.
  2. Working with groups of people living with Mental Health problems and intellectual disabilities through theatre.

The company has always been committed to placing their work within an international context, and exploring diverse working methods towards theatre making. Shadowbox believe that every member of society has creative potential, and has the right to develop this. They seek to facilitate groups to access their artistic creativity and believe that, when explored properly, we can use art as a forum for growth and social change.

Unfortunately we weren't able to pick everybody, and we wish all of our other applicants the very best in the future.
