Drupalisters in Zimbabwe

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

For a while I thought there where no active Drupal users in Zimbabwe...but as evidenced by the response to nicopamoja's post it looks like we're all but dead.

I think it's good that we know each other...so that we can help each other when needed...or team up for major jobs. You know these days it's all virtual...as evidenced by Lullabot. It all happens online. Who knows...maybe we can have our own Drupal meet someday.

So..as a way of introduction....my name is Anesu, Creative Director @ Maumbile Multimedia (www.maumbile.com, not yet Drupalised, keep watching this space). Sites created in Drupal include www.hifa.co.zw, www.cwgh.co.zw and www.maumbilemoments.co.zw. Currently wrapping up work porting www.thevillagezim.com to D6. I'm thinking my next project will be in D7. I've been tinkering with it and am getting more comfortable with it.

Would love to know who else is in the Zimbabwe Drupal Community and any interesting projects they have worked on.

Hi ZimDrupalistas,

Yes, great to see there is small community keeping Drupal alive in Zim. It seems worthwhile to consolidate this group, maybe arrange a meet up to establish a more active online/offline forum for us to share resources, knowledge, team up, and have a good support network. Thanks for sharing some of the sites you worked on Anesu, some great stuff! Would also love to hear of any other interesting projects happening in the Zim space.

Keep in touch!

Best,

Niko

Hi guys! Glad to see that there is some activity on the Drupal front in Zimbabwe.

I am Zimbabwean but based in Washington, I am going to be back home later this year, and was always curious about the state of Drupal and open source development at home.

Having meetups is actually a great idea, its a really good way to build awareness and stay in touch with others in the dev community. Unfortunately i am not there, but if there are some dedicated people who would be interested in coordinating meetups and events, it could go a long way. I wouldn't mind helping out if i can.

Eventually it would awesome if there was a DrupalCamp Zimbabwe!!

Are you a themer/developer

Are you a themer/developer yourself?

Drupal Dev and Themer

timani's picture

Both actually, I have been a Drupal developer for the past 5 or so years, building a variety of web sites, as well as using Drupal to build some mobile and SMS apps too.

I think its the versatility, strong community support and module base that makes it the preferred choice of framework/CMS.

How about you? Are you a dev/themer?

Hi guys!

My name is Chiko Mukwenha.

I'm a Drupal Developer based in Zimbabwe. My website is http://www.click-it.co.zw (D6) where I list some of my work. Haven't updated in a little while but I will keep you folks updated on latest work soon.

As a Drupal developer, I have worked under Quatrohaus to create the following projects: http://datvest.quatrohaus.net (D7 - the test server) , http://www.andersonadventist.ac.zw , http://www.beverleyhills.co.zw/ , http://www.fctz.org.zw and a couple more I can't disclose as of now :D

It would be nice to arrange our little drupal meets and just share with other folks. I'm keen on learning so if anyone here has some time, hit me up and we can arrange something or even partner on exciting projects! My twitter is http://www.twitter.com/mukwenhac

Cheers!
