Create a metadata provider for views

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Three big pains for me when working with drupal :
- the list of permissions (too long, easy to forget things, no way to categorize, filter stuff)
- the list of modules (often too long, hard to search through -every module name appears more times ...)
- the non-existing list / diagram of CCK types / fields (am I the only one UML / other modelling spoiled ?)

Yes, it is easy to write a little module to depict those vital data in a different way. But then you will want to add filters, sorting, other columns and whatsoever, you will start recreating three instances of views ... so probably the most "neat" solution woud be to provide those metadata to views. This could probably be achieved by creating a memory provider for views ? Or simply adding data structures for views to read them (and a refreshing mechanism above it).

For 1 and 2, There is a issue here http://drupal.org/node/229193 (but the debate is : If its any better than browser search)

3> the uml part is very much helped by schema api in core. With some code scanning you can create ER diagrams of database and how they link to each other (I know its not completely what u mean)
