We are very excited to announce the release of four very powerful modules that came to extend even more the potential of the VoIP Drupal platform.
All of those modules have been in the oven for over a year. Only now we considered them baked enough for broader consumption. Here they are:
* VoIP Extension (http://drupal.org/project/voipextension), which provides a basic API that enables Drupal modules to assign phone extension numbers to nodes, users, views, and other elements of the system;
* VoIP Node (http://drupal.org/project/voipnode), which provides phone extensions to CCK content types;
* VoIP User (http://drupal.org/project/voipuser), which provides phone extension functionality to Drupal users; and
* Voicemail (http://drupal.org/project/voicemail), which provides voicemail capabilities to the extensions created with the modules above.
For a good example of the VoIP Extension family in use, check http://mydottour.org/ . That is a pilot site that we have created to facilitate the organization of youth-led, interactive neighborhood tours. As you might notice, the My Dot Tour system can be accessed via web, SMS, or touchtone phones. Each location is a CCK content type with a VoIP extension associated with it. By dialing that extension, you can hear information about the place, listen to stories recorded by tour members, and record your own stories. Cool, eh?
