The quiz module is treacherous..
Hey Shivaji.. that is great!! The quiz module is quite treacherous as it has nodes created withing a node and demands a very intuitive interface if users are to submit questions (currently its very ugly :|). Btw, it was the same project by which webchick started working on/for drupal :)
Much Needed..
First of all congratulations.. :) .. the quiz module as it stands right now is very focused towards CATs and it doesn't even achieve that properly.. besides the lack of a proper UI for the end user, the administrative view is weird too.. think of a 1000 questions appearing in one quiz page..
Hope your contribution makes this module worth using, it goes unsaid that this is a very important aspect of a modern day website.

Actually, it is not adaptive at all
No part of Quiz is adaptive, and it never was intended to be. So, no, Quiz is not a CAT.
We are excited about adding some new features -- especially new question types, better importing and exporting, better reporting, and a better UI. With Sivaji's help, I have no doubt that we will see some great improvements coming along in Quiz 3 and Quiz 4.
See the attached image for a peek at what the new UI will look like (ignoring the Firebug console I have open).
If you are interested in the CAT part, we'd be happy to get some patches.
EDIT: Switched to a smaller image.

My Bad...
@mbutcher: Yes, it's not a CAT. Although considering that the quiz module is specifically built for "educational purposes" (as stated on the module page), the CAT does seem like an interesting and necessary requirement.
I will try and build out this feature and send a patch.
Also, considering that presently this is the only quiz solution that exists for drupal, I feel the requirement for allowing normal users to create quizzes and share it with the rest of the users on the website (a standard feature of a social networking website) is also a very necessary requirement. Presently the daunting administrative interface along with access control makes this hard to build out. For reference one can check out the quizzes on flixster or facebook. Would love to see something being done to this end.
The new UI looks cool and the autocomplete will definitely make things easier.
Cheers,
Gaurav Kumar
