Hello all,
We're in the process of organizing regular office hours and an "open channel" to answer questions that folks might have about VoIP Drupal.
What do you think we should use for that?
Some say that IRC is highly intimidating.
Google Hangout is limited to 10 people at a time.
The problem with conference calls is that you cannot actually see or refer to a conversation on the screen.
Any suggestions or strong opinions?
Thanks in advance,
Leo

Mumble is pretty cool. Though
Mumble is pretty cool. Though it's probably as intimidating as IRC. It's basically IRC with audio. I wrote up a how-to for getting it installed and configured for optimal audio. There's no limit to the number of folks that can be connected in a channel at any time.

d.o?
Why not use this group? And/or a wiki page? While live support is definitely nice - my vote would be IRC - without an archive of that useful information, someone will be fielding the same questions over and over.
Thanks for sharing all this, Leo, I was truly blown away in Denver with some of the demos. Is your "VoIP Drupal Fact Sheet" available online anywhere? I'd like to share it with a few people.
thanks again,

I suggest both IRC for live
I suggest IRC for live office hours sessions and to also create a solid documentation set in a handbook on d.o. that is pointed to from this group and IRC. POinting to documentation from the project page, groups page and support channels should be standard.
We built a pretty thorough documentation set in a handbook for the Omega theme project in 4 sprints. Voip probably wouldn't require so many. Most of the common questions we get are answered in bot factoids in channel as well as in a "Common questions" page in the handbook.
I'm available to discuss if need be. VoIPDrupal++
Thanks for all your comments!
Based on the comments above, we're going to start by using an IRC system similar to the one proposed by Adam and see what happens. Have a look: http://voipdrupal.org/node/1296
At first, we'll mostly be available at the chat area for a few predefined time slots (TBD). Depending on the questions that come up, we should be able to expand our IRC presence and, if needed, complement the discussion with either a screen cast or a phone conference system of some sort...
The idea is not to replace this VoIP Drupal group discussion, but rather provide an additional -- and more dynamic -- venue for folks to express their questions and suggestions. The main points of the conversation will them be organized and incorporated into the VoIP Drupal documentation.
Looking forward to seeing you online,
Leo
