I'm building a Drupal 6 site for a client that needs newsletter subscribe function. I have installed SimpleNews module. The site will not be using the member login function. I would like to add a name field to the newsletter subscribe box. How do I do this? I have knowledge of PHP/mySQL but I'm new to modifying Drupal modules.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Step by step explanations are very helpful.

Recommend MailChimp
I would not recommend SimpleNews -- it will be very hard to successfully deliver email from your server that doesn't get marked as spam. Check out http://mailchimp.com that is free for low volume. There is a mailchimp module, but I actually just use the JavaScript embed and it works really well. See http://bootuplabs.com/subscribe for an example.
Thanks, Boris. I had heard
Thanks, Boris. I had heard that Simplenews wasn't very good at sending out newsletters. So I was just going to use it to collect firstnames and email addresses into a mailing list. And then use Constant Contact or some other third party program. I didn't know that mailchimp was free for low volume. I will definitely look into that. Thank you.
