Should we use the buildamodule.com training model for the clinic this year?

Should we have it in June?

Will Chris Shattuck attend?

Who is interested in attending?

Who is interested in mentoring?

Will lunch be served?

This would be awesome, I can

This would be awesome, I can let you know about myself attending when you guys have dates. I may not be able to make June because of another training on June 8 and a Vancouver DrupalCamp the week before, but keep me posted.

If there's anything I can do to help, or questions I can answer, just let me know.

From previous Mentored Trainings, serving lunch seems to be a hit. Especially a serve-yourself-and-we'll-keep-leftovers-around-for-refueling kind.

Cheers!
Chris

I'm interested in attending and possibly mentoring. I've never really mentored before but I am willing to give it a shot.

Another option

This is great to see!

This is great to see! Leveraging the Mentored Training model to integrate both the Hello Drupal curriculum for those who are at that place on their learning curve, and the full BuildAModule.com library for the other folks could be an option as well. The Advantage Labs folks combined a couple of sources for one of their Mentored Trainings and it sounded like it went well.

Cheers!

Who What When:
Each year, SeaDUG offers a one day beginner Drupal class/clinic to the broader community at minimum cost. Josh Kopel and John Walling are forming a planning committee to develop a one day Mentored Drupal Training Class/Clinic using online Buildamodule courses. We plan to offer a beginner class/clinic in the August-September 2012 time-frame, depending on venue availability.
* http://buildamodule.com/train - Buildamodule training

Fees:
We wlll keep registration fees to a minimum. Fees will be used to cover expenses for the venue and food. All the work will be done by SeaDUG volunteers. The Clinic is part of SeaDUG's outreach program to invite more people into the Drupal community.

Volunteers:
Once we secure a venue we will ask for volunteer mentors to commit to the date. We will need approx one mentor per 5 students. For example, a class of 40 students will need at least 8 mentors. We can schedule mentors for half day shifts. This is a good opportunity to become active in the local Drupal community.

Other Drupal events to watch for:
* The local Forumone.com office is sponsoring a Training Day June 22nd http://drupal.org/learn-drupal
* Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit - October 2012 - is in Seattle http://2012.pnwdrupalsummit.org/ (The Summit will not have beginner sessions.)
* Portland is hosting the 2013 Drupalcon http://portland2013.drupal.org/
* The 2013 PNWD Summit is scheduled for Vancouver, BC and the 2014 PNWD Summit is scheduled for Portland.
