Drupal SIG

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Folks,

This discussion is to help facilitate the formation of a Drupal SIG (special interest group). I've heard interest in a centrally run SIG (CIT run?) and also the desire for a more dispersed effort. If folks would like to offer their opinion it would certainly help us determine our need (or not) to invest staff time in organizing this effort.

Cheers,

Yamin

I'm a programmer/analyst at Mann Library where we, and others in CUL have been doing Drupal development for several years. I'm sure you'll see more of us from the library soon.

I would be happy to co-lead a Drupal SIG. I would suggest it be university wide, but with each meeting have an agenda so people know if attendance would benefit them.

Another library person here. I'd be interested in participating in a Drupal SIG as well. I attended the Commonspot SIG for a long time and found it useful and have missed having something similar for Drupal. As John said, there are a bunch of us in the library doing Drupal work so if I can help get things started in some way, just let me know. -jrc88

Drupal SIG Thursday May 31 10-11:30am in Mann B30A

I have reserved Mann classroom B30A for a Drupal Special Interest Group meeting next week, Thursday May 31 10-11:30am. I hope this time works for you to attend. To find B30A, enter Mann Library, go straight ahead to the elevators, down to level B, the classroom is straight ahead.

This will be pretty informal, to talk about attendee's Drupal plans, site requirements, figure out how we can collaborate where possible, etc. Here is a brief agenda, this is open to more suggestions:

  • enterprise hosting: who has researched what hosts, and are there recommendations?
  • core modules, which are most useful and what people are doing with them
  • custom module development, potentially sharing modules that would be helpful for CU related activity (CUWebAuth sign on, news, events, faculty profiles)

Let me know if you have something you'd like to add. Please pass this on to other appropriate lists.

Thanks,
Eric

Well, drat, it seems like I found this group about two weeks too late. When's the next meeting? I run a website for one of the labs in the vet school (k9dna.org) and I've been interested in getting involved in a SIG or some such for a while now.

next SIG meeting

I put in a request for next Thursday 10-11:30am in Mann B30A, and will let you know when that is confirmed. At the previous SIG we talked about this one focusing on Drupal development strategies, best practices, navigation, and site architecture. Hope you can make it!
