can't get drupal 8 to launch

lscook's picture

I follow all the directions and examples but all I get is "The requested URL /install.php was not found on this server." I updated dev desktop. I changed the default php to 5.3 I imported according to the directions at http://learndrupal.org/lesson/3e6d7e33-33bc-d704-7189-e331a0d80c87. This happened at the meetup but I was so rushed getting it done I thought I missed a step or something. However, it doesn't seem to matter what I do I get the same result. BTW there is no opportunity to save after you navigate to the Drupal 8 directory or I'm doing it wrong, strong possibility. Anybody else having problems?

Problem with Drupal 8

cgroche's picture

I didn't get the error message that you got, but I did run into problems getting Drupal 8 to load into the dev desktop after updating it. Even though I changed the default php to 5.3 it wouldn't load Drupal 8, saying that I had an earlier version of php. Recently, Acquia dev desktop wouldn't let me load any of the lessons from our class. It would only load Drupal Commons. Anyway, I uninstalled Acquia dev desktop via the uninstall utility in C:\program files (x86)\acquia-drupal. You can't uninstall it from Windows - Control Panel - Programs - Uninstall a Program. I reinstalled Acquia dev desktop, and was able to load Drupal 8. Hope this helps...

Problems with D7 sites?

Thank you. When you uninstalled dev desktop and re-installed it were you able to access your D7 sites with no problems? After updating dev desktop the backup and migrate module will not function and has a huge list of errors. I should've backed it up before...The system report is showing "Database updates Out of date Some modules have database schema updates to install. You should run the database update script immediately."

Launched Drupal 8 using git

I went onto the next rung of the ladder and used git clone to download Drupal 8 dev. version and did get Drupal 8 to launch without uninstalling and reinstalling dev desktop. ???

no problems

I was in a bit of a hurry during the meetup too. I blew it away, and loaded everything back in the wamp. I have the drupal8 dev and drupal8 ladder from git, all the rest are 7.x.
