On July 26-27 a bunch of Drupal developers are gathering next door in Wisconsin to sprint on Drupal 8 and it would be awesome to come and help out. That begs the question, how best to get there?

Carpool? Caravan? Teleport?

Well Teleporting isn't available yet (my spell-checker didn't even think it was a real word) so let's explore some options and find out what will work best.

I did a little preliminary research and found out we could rent a 12-person passenger van for the weekend at around $500. The actual cost of using the van would be more as we would need to pay for gas so the actual cost could go as high as $700. That's per van.

There's also the possibility of renting a bus of some sort. But we probably would a lot of people to come for that to be economical.

I'm a fan of the Mega Bus as a quick and easy easy way to get to Madison. http://us.megabus.com/

And there's always the old-fashioned car-pool method as well if renting a van is to cost prohibitive.

At the moment I have this on my calendar, and I would be in for some group travel / car pooling. I have another event in chicago starting the tuesday after, so I might just head straight there. Not sure yet. My plans will probably shake out as the event gets closer.
