I have been having a bit of a difficult time with my Drupal site lately. The site takes almost 45 seconds to load. Usually when it does load, the first message I see is "page does not exist". This is in Drupal, the favicon and the theme loads fine, but the Page does not exist.
Then I reload the page and there is a better than 50% that the proper front page will load, but maybe not.
The seems to be working after I log, the pages loading a bit faster. Maybe I am overreacting but I am just not quite sure. I'm not really sure where to go to even diagnose this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Jason
For details I am using Drupal 6.x with Waffles theme. The front page uses a Panels page.

Comments
and one more thing
Often times when administering the site, which I was doing between my first post and this one - I come across this little error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@medfield.tv and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
More Details on Setup?
Hey Jason,
where's the server? Are you hosting local? Could be slow network, overloaded mysql, etc. Can you run top on the server? Are the drupal logs showing problems? Can you see apache logs?
I find firebug helps sometimes: gives load time for site elements. http://getfirebug.com/

Page Not Found
Hey Joe,
So, I am using Dreamhost and I enabled the performance on the administration menu and it seems to be helping with performance issue. I also uninstalled some modules I should have awhile back - Civic Roles Sync - I think is the name. While the performance is better - we still are getting 'Page Not Found' on the front page of the site.
It is a panels page, but everyone has access to view all panels and all pages so I am not sure what is up.
Medfield?
Jason - A little off topic (ok - a lot) - you're part of the Medfield access channel? That's where I grew up - graduated high school, etc. I remember someone emailing me re: Medfield TV being Drupal, don't think I replied back. Very cool, indeed!

Panels
There was some confusion w/ correct versioning of panels / views / cck. Not sure if that's been straightened out w/ present releases.
We've had to roll back some installs due to this and go back to a combo of all three that played nice together.

I think the host is the issue. I have similar issues on a few sites running Drupal on DreamHost.
