Hi all the Amharic Drupal translation process is finally underway. We have done a good part of work! The translation would be available soon, hopefully. We used a number of resources that we think were and still are essential for carrying out the work. One such resource is found at the Ethiopian Information Communication Technology Development Agency (EICTDA) website download page. The Localization Server & Client Modules are quite usefull tools as well. The Server needs to be set up somewhere and I think we could do that later, however the client module helps by providing in page translation so anyone can download it to use it locally.
Another handy tool would be a dictionary, an English to Amharic dictionary to be exact, I guess you can find them on the Street of Addis or any other town down here. If you want to help out with the translation and you need some pointers you know what to do. I think I should create a wiki page on how to translate the Drupal interface into Amharic.

How's it going?
Hi Tsega. Thanks for working on the translation. I've been playing around with Drupal the last couple of months now and like it very much. I'm not a programmer but am in IT (security). I'v just installed my site and playing around with some of the modules. Check it out at www.zuriya.com. I've put up some sample pictures.
How is the translation going? How far are you? Is there anything I can do to help?
Mike
