Drupalbanians,
Can anyone recommend a module for bulk emailing from drupal? I'm looking at Views Send but there are many other choices. Has anyone on the list used Views Send? Do you have another favorite?
Thanks,
Maury

I used Mailchimp the last
I used Mailchimp the last time I set it up
Definitely not module
Definitely not module specific, but I usually integrate with mailchimp, aweber, or constant contact when people need email lists, and I copy paste the form in and style it. All of them let you import an xls/csv, and most are free under 500 subscribers. Its better to use a service like mail chimp for mass mailing because you don't want to risk your domain being black listed if things go awry.
With that said, views send will probably work fine :)
+1 to Mailchimp
We also use it here at EMPAC, and I'd recommend it to just about anyone looking for a mailing list campaign. And yes, the rules for email marketing are quite strict - one abuse complaint too many and you could be spending a lot of time trying to get yourself unblacklisted.
It depends on your list
I have used Views Send on several sites that send mail to an internal audience and am happy with the results. COD also has an interesting integration of Views Send which you might want to take a look at.
For external lists I would recommend MailChimp. External lists should be Opt In only and follow different rules due to Spam laws. There is also the danger of getting your mail server blacklisted...
Thanks!
Thanks to all who responded ! The comments are very helpful. I see a Mail Chimp in my future.
I just set up a new mailchimp
I just set up a new mailchimp campaign last night, and apparently now they force a "vcard" onto all of the sign ups/emails, so if you don't have a business address to use you might want to go the constant contact route (I was using my home address and didn't want to give that out to strangers!). Constant contact is free trial for 60 days, then 15 a month for 500 subscribers.
