Do you feel like you're spending too much time fighting with Drupal rather than embracing it in a warm fuzzy hug? This course is intended for people who already know the basics about Drupal, but really want to fill in the gaps. This course is perfect for any skill level and covers a wide range of topics.

This is a 'nuts and bolts' course that lets you peek into our toolbox. The tools you'll pick up have helped us keep our projects manageable and finish on time while keeping our developers sane. This course covers many topics like git, working in muti-developer environments, using patches (and contributing them back!) as well as basic theming and module development. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, this is it.

This one-day workshop gives you a comprehensive tutorial on the right way to manage your Drupal website. You'll learn about version control for your code and ways to manage changes in your data. You’ll also see how the Features module can enable you to keep your configuration changes in version control. We'll cover industry-approved deployment strategies that let you move smoothly through development, testing and live environments. You’ll get a high-level overview of how to modify the way your site looks by sub-theming, preventing hours of frustration should your original theme be updated.

  • Using version control with Drupal
  • Maintaining development, testing and production environments
  • Managing configuration changes using the Features module
  • Creating a basic sub-theme
  • Creating a basic module
  • Understanding Drupal’s API and the hook system

I'll be one of the trainers leading this workshop and I'm very excited for the opportunity to help you get to the next level of Drupal. Everyone has some bumps in the road starting out. Everyone tries Drupal and gets stuck at some point. We're here to help.

David and Carl, thanks so much for an outstanding session. I needed duct tape for my head to keep my brain from exploding, you guys packed me so full of such useful stuff! You've inspired me to step up my game, and to look for ways to get involved in the Drupal community locally and virtually.

Behind every big man is a big behind.

Thanks!

Thanks! We're very happy that you enjoyed the workshop and that it inspired you to get involved with the community! Your local community here is pretty awesome - you shouldn't be disappointed.

PS. Whenever you're dealing with Drupal you should wear a hat; you don't want you grey matter getting everywhere. :-)
