Hi There Drupal Divers...

Thanks to the DCSP and ultimike I have been working at a great new job in Orlando. Finally, I have a chance to use my Drupal knowledge and expand on what I learned... but I need some help.

It's been a while since I was immersed in Drupal. We have a web site that is a 3D web based virtual world made in OLIVE and using Unity Web Player. They are using D7 as the back end data repository and XML as the go-between. Inside this virtual world is a sort of reference library where users, via their avatars, can interact with a book, or a laptop and pull up category specific content. For instance, if I were in the library section labeled for "Sports" and I clicked a laptop there I would get a menu list of all the sports related content.

The content, at this point, is brought up in a "viewer" which looks to be a type of shadowbox popup and it will show PDFs, Powerpoint, Docs and Videos. (I'm not the developer and I do not have access to the Drupal admin or back end at this time so I'm not sure what it is.)

I need to demonstrate that if the content is fed into Drupal with the proper tags and taxonomy, it can be brought up in the viewer with our own branding and in a semi-newsletter format so that all the content (text and images) has a uniform and consistent look and feel.

Is there a similar site or demo showing this already and how do I find it? If not, what would be the quickest way to demo this scenario? My thought is to set up a simple taxonomy, make a few "devel" pages with links that bring up a shadowbox and tag related content. Any ideas on this?

Thanks! I'm hoping I can make it to the next meetup. Miss the gang!

local site?

Mets,

Is there any way you can get a local copy of the site to play with? That would be a good way to create a convincing demo using their actual content...

Unfortunately, no.

We are developing the content but have a contractor doing the actual development. I'd love to do a really convincing demo in context with the site but for now I simply need to demonstrate that it can be done.

scratch

Mets,

Then it sounds like you'll probably have to build a quick Drupal site from scratch.

You don't have to load all the content and all the taxonomy, just enough to get the point across. Then, build yourself some views and maybe use the Colorbox module (http://drupal.org/project/colorbox) to display the content in a popup window similar to what you're looking for...

Thanks!

I ran it through my head last night and pretty much came to the same conclusion. Wasn't sure if I should use colorbox or lightbox2? I'm more familiar with colorbox so for expediency, I will go with that.

Thanks Mike!
