The focus for the DrupalCape Meet-Up for August 2012 is training.

This training session is the third of four earmarked for this year. The purpose is to build knowledge and so there will be a step-by-step approach with the purpose of equipping all attendees to build a basic Drupal site by year-end unassisted.

Training in the third session will cover a number of topics around Drupal Modules.

Future training will cover Good Development/Design Habits and Testing.

Due to the lateness of this meeting announcement, we will only be closing off the sign-ups on 28/Mar/2012. Please do take this opportunity to sign-up and do not miss this valuable opportunity to learn something for pretty much nothing! Please remember to tell us of any dietary requirements that you have when signing up. Thank you so much.

PLEASE NOTE: The venue for the DrupalCape meet-ups - Bandwidth Barn - has changed. Please view the address details and should you have any queries, please contact us on 087 820 2003 (VoIP).

Please note that training will start no later than 18:15.

Topic*: - Modules - Understanding what they do and how they work
- Selection (Stew will walk you through the Drupal module repository
(http://drupal.org/project/modules)
- Implementation & configuration
- Resolving conflicts

Pre-requisites:
The only suggestion that we would like to make is that you have a Laptop or something similar, and a desire to learn about Drupal. If you are technically inclined, we would suggest that you install XAMPP, and a basic Drupal 7 install.

Pre-requisites:
As the advanced training is fairly intensive, we would recommend that candidates be fairly familiar with Drupal, module implementation and tweaking, as well as some Linux knowledge. Please do not feel that you are excluding from attending if you don't have, for example some Linux knowledge. These are merely recommendations and not exclusions :)

What you will get (Novice and Advanced):
Knowledge! The opportunity to pick some of Cape Town's leading Drupal brains! A fun learning experience.

You will need the following items, or find them very helpful:
Laptop or similar computing device
Installable version of XAMPP (find your version at: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) *
Writing pad and pen or pencil

*If you are already running a webserver on your machine that supports Drupal, you won't need to install XAMPP.
* Please note that the training topic formats are only a guideline and not necessarily set in stone.
