CDMUG is awesome - but why is g.d.o/chicago homepage landing only about CDMUG and upcoming CDMUGs?
Should it not include information about Chicago's entire Drupal community?
Also, CDMUG is never listed under 'Group Events' but the other meetups often are.
I like having the meetups under group events because I can easily add them to my iCal and its more organized.
I've talked to some people who are confused why there isn't information about the other meetups on g.d.o/chicago and I've directed them to look at the sidebar.
I propose the group organizers remove the CDMUG promo and follow a format that is more organized - if you look at how Denver/Boulder do their setup: http://groups.drupal.org/denver-boulder-colorado-dbug
This way all groups and Chicago information can live on the homepage.

Oooh colorado's group looks awesome. I'd love for our group to look like that. It's very clean yet the info is right there. I also think that Drupical http://www.drupical.com/ pulls from gdo ical feeds so it makes sense for all the events to be in iCal.
The top info should be structured similarly to what they have as well IMO. It's very clean and concise and gives all the info at first glance
That is a nice layout.
That is a nice layout. Another thing we probably need is for each of the group organizers to get admin rights for adjusting the front page. Each group could also get its own subpage or wiki as well.
For group organizers, we have:
CDMUG - Slurpee
CADUG - ?
Fox Valley - ?
any other groups not based on region and more BOF-style -- libraries, higher ed, etc?
Agreed
At the last Fox Valley meetup, we discussed posting our schedule on g.d.o. and agreed it makes sense to do so. We have a handful of organizers that would need admin rights as there are a few of us that deal with the monthly content of the meetings.
I build websites, push pixels, move type, make media, plan camps, tap mana, roll for initiative, eat like a boss, chase food trucks and like an #eggoneverything. Sponsor my travel and I will record and post your camp sessions!

So I think we need to walk a fine line here... On one hand, we don't want too many cooks in the kitchen, but on the other hand we don't want to have 1 person managing everything.
@kthull, just wondering why do multiple people from a group need admin rights? Anyone can post events, create wikis, polls, etc. I've never managed a d.o group so wondering what do admin rights give u that you don't get as a regular user (besides layout and top section of course)
I stand corrected
@MrMaksimize I've never posted events on g.d.o before so hadn't realized that. So you're right, no need for multiple admins here from our group. Bob Snodgrass (@bsnodgrass) is definitely our fearless leader so he'd be the one to tap if we go that route.

Group admins can do a few
Group admins can do a few extra things, like edit the group description and add pages to the group navigation. I think having one admin rep from each group is useful so that they can keep their listing in the main /chicago description current, manage the display of their own group's page (if they choose to have one), etc.
CADUG leadership
I'm nominating MrMaksimize as CADUG g.d.o leader :)
Fox Valley Drupal Group
I agree with the concept of a primary admin on G.D.O. for each of our groups in one Chicago G.D.O regional group.
I also like the example the Denver/Boulder group has built as a model and that events should be posted as events.
One thing I would insist on is at least two people from each group being setup as admin. It's not unusual for someone to get distracted and unavailable due to work, an important party or vacation, power outages, car accidents, or even worse. In those cases one person might need some help.
In my case, I would like to delegate/share the posting responsibility with @kthull (since he's piping up).

Fox Valley?
There's a Fox Valley Drupal group? Where's the info for that?

any changes to Chicago
So what are the plans to include links and notices about the other Chicago based Drupal UG on the Chicago D.O. group page? I see we have new organizers now.
