Sprint
Update: Let's do an issue sprint! Bring your laptop and we'lll work on some core Drupal issues. The only real prerequisite is that you know how to use Drupal, though it will be helpful to get through the first three ladder rungs (down at the bottom) so your local environment is setup before you arrive. We will help everyone find an issue they can work on, so don't you worry about that.
If you're new to the Ladder: The Goal of the Drupal Ladder is to have 1% of the Drupal Community contributing to core by 2014. To do this, we're holding two types of sprints:
- Learn sprints, where we work through lessons on DrupalLadder.org, and
- Issue sprints, where we work on Drupal core issues from the issue queue on drupal.org

We haven't yet. I'm not available to do daytime events during the week, though I'm all for it if someone else would like to organize one.

That might actually be a pretty cool idea. I'm not sure what the attendance level would be, but I will float it around at my office and see if it might work out as a smaller event.

Some of our crew might be down with a noon sprint, especially if we could have remote aspect (e.g., a few people at the office here, a few at APCO, etc using IRC to talk across groups).
I would drive to DC
Just to meet someone in person who is doing Drupal. I have not met anyone yet and cannot pay a trainer. I'd love a meet and greet - just one person will even do : )
I used to have a print magazine, and for the sake of my brain I decided on Drupal for my new tool to learn because my background, aside from publishing, is content management and as a taxonomist and ontologist. I am not currently working, so I put up this site in the last 30 days - http://vacountrylife.net.
It's the little Drupal issues I want to work out and would like to get to the point where I am a contributor to the community, especially in the area of categorization and classification.

I can't drive at night -
That's the problem, and I am limited in how long I can drive so midday is best to lessen the hours of rush hour, but thank you.
