Just wanted to check about Drupal Camp Atlanta. I would like to go, but never went to an event before and wanted to check about costs etc. And since Mike is great at emails i decided to post this here. :P

yeah yeah. I saw your email
yeah yeah. I saw your email over the weekend, but was going to wait till today to respond. :)
Anyway, the cost is only $35 to attend. There's a bunch of great stuff for newbies like yourself.
As far as getting and staying up there, that's going to be the difficult part. I already secured a carpool from a friend who lives in Sarasota. Unfortunately, his truck only fits two. So, you'll have to find a carpool up.
Alternatively, www.MediaCurrent.com is chartering a bus that leaves from Orlando on Thurs. So, if you want to stay up there a couple extra days and can get to orlando, that may be an option.
PS. the thread you created here is an event. You shouldve created a discussion- reason being is that this will show up under the upcoming events page as being in Gainesville.

I am thinking to do Drupal Atlanta
Hey Martin-
I am thinking to do the South Florida Drupal Camp on Saturday 10/20 to do the basic track and then do the Atalanta Drupal conference on 10/27 for an intermediate track but I need to keep costs down and I need to return to G'Ville (your favorite town in the whole world) Saturday evening both weekends. I will probably try to leave Atlanta for the return trip at 5:00 or 6:00 pm on Saturday and Mapquest says the drive is 5 hours. If I can find a cheap hotel in Atlanta for Friday night I might do that otherwise I will just leave at 3:00 am Saturday morning. I have a friend from Tampa who may go with me. If we have an extra seat available you are welcome to ride along and cost share.
If others are interested speak up, sorry my schedule is so constrained and the car I would take is a two seater (35 mpg) so that would be pretty limited (my friend may take his vehicle) but I would be glad to share costs and driving if someone else wants to take their vehicle. :-)

Hi Mark, That sounds great.
Hi Mark,
That sounds great. I would definitely like to go for that. Either option is fine, Friday night Hotel or 3AM Sat morning, I'm Young ^_^
About how much would we be looking at for the cost? I'm proposing this all to my Boss and would like a ball park figure I can present.
PS. Gainesville is my least favorite town that i've lived in. :P
Travel follow up
Martin-
Like I said earlier, I had already asked that friend of mine in Tampa about going and don't know if he wants to drive or not or whether he will even go. If it works out I think you need to plan on $35 for attendance, last time I got a room up north of Atlanta it was about $65 and you have any meals. I would guess half or a third of the gas would probaly range $25 to $50. it will be a lot more pleasant if we leave Friday late afternoon and stay over Friday night so we are fresh in the morning on Saturday.
I am on a bit of shoestring because I am only just getting back into the IT field after five years of working for a church in the G'Ville area.
