I am a developer working here in Beijing. Our company is looking for a developer for a Drupal-based site either as a regular employee or freelancer. Our preference is for a local chinese hire although a non-chinese is possible if they have extensive experience.
I won't get into details as I know there are only a few members in this group. So for now I am just wondering whether any of the group members are based in Beijing and looking for work...

Also in Beijing
Ni hao!
I also work in Beijing as Web Dev at WAB (Western Academy of Bejing). Myself along with another Web Dev and our Sys Admin are currently in the midst of a Drupal frenzy, which we have adopted as our primary CMS for all content/data.
We use the LDAP module to give all our users a single password for login access to their email, computers and drupal-run sites, of which we have an ever increasing number of intranet and internal-access only websites currently running on Drupal 4.6 (soon to be upgraded to 5.1 and then greatly expanded in functionality and features).
Drupal is fast becoming our god, and myself and collegues would love to hear from other Drupal-lovers in Beijing and share experiences, particularly about running multi-language sites (English/Chinese in particular but also Korean) along with general Drupal geek talk.
Very swamped with a number of different drupal projects at present, we are in the process of converting and expanding our main public website (http://www.wab.edu) which is presently all hard coded html (nightmare for the daily news updates et al) over to Drupal 5.1 as well as developing a newspaper/magazine style site for our weekly newsletter.
We have very big plans for our use of Drupal at WAB, which we hope to eventually implement accross our entire network to run all class sites, parent sites, student profiles, corporate intranets etc all from one login (with different accesses for each user according to which site they are on). Presently we host our internal sites here at WAB, but since the earthquake in Taiwan in Dec have chosen to host our 'public access' sites in Singapore which we find ensures fast access for users in Beijing, Asia as well as users worldwide.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi to another person playing the Drupal game in Beijing. If you happen to hear from anyone who has some Drupal experience I too would be interested in speaking with them about the possibility of doing some part-time/contract/freelance work for us as we could certainly do with a bit of extra help getting all our projects off the ground.
Cheers,
Ilsa~
Hi Ilsa, Looks like you have
Hi Ilsa,
Looks like you have got quite some interesting projects there. I looked at the wab.edu webpage, it's quite comprehensive and I can't imagine how one could maintain it if it's all hard coded html! I think porting it to Drupal will help a lot in the long term, and will be fun :)
You mentioned that your host server is in Singapore and seems to provide pretty fast access both from Beijing and outside China, if you don't mind can you share a bit more details? I am one of the maintainers at drupalchina.org, which is a Chinese drupal communitiy site to promote drupal and to provide a forum/platform for Chinese drupalers to discuss and exchange ideas. We just started about a year ago and is growing, slowly but steadily. Our server is currently hosted in United States, so access speed from China is not so great, especially after the earthquake...I am currently looking at moving our server to asia, maybe Hongkong/Korea/Singapore area but having problem finding a good/stable yet affordable host. I appreciate if you could share some of your experience.
Thanks in advance and wish you good luck on your projects!

Looks like we both could use some help
Hi Lisa,
Glad to hear that you've got a nice big Drupal project going. If I had any freetime I would offer my help with your projects but all my time is taken by my company's own Drupal plans.
Just for the sake of curiousity, are you using CCK in your project? I'm relatively new to Drupal and still have a lot to learn. Perhaps it wasn't the best place to start but I've recently been hacking on CCK and learning how to create new CCK fields to use in custom CCK content types. I'm also gonna have to start learning a lot more about theming Drupal...
Also on the topic of hosting, can I ask what sort of hosting package you have in Singapore? We host locally in Beijing and it's alright considering we have our own colocated server but I am thinking about other options down the line.
Sounds very interesting
Hello, Ilsa,

This sounds very interesting -- this also lines up pretty cleanly with some of the development goals for DrupalEd -- I'd love to hear more about these projects.
Cheers,
Bill
