Hello all,
We are happy to release the new project by Mobile4Social.com - an integration between Android app and Drupal Privatemsg module.
Please take a look at the demo video of the application, install it and try it out to see the integration we offer.

The concept of the application is simple - give your Drupal community a simple way to interact with each other and with the site with your own branded application, with your own push notification service, for free - and build it all with the tools you already know - Services, Rules, Views - and all of them together.

On the background we made lots of enhancements and build the needed "building blocks" for future development:

  • New entities - using Drupal 7 entities we can build the data structures we need in order to interact with the different mobile devices. To make it properly we developed the "Things" entity and the "Things Identifiers" entity, created a Services resource to make them available to the mobile devices, and wrapped it with the needed Rules to put some logic into the site.
Additional information about the different modules in use can be found here.
  • Features - in order to make the implementation of the system on other sites as simple as possible we developed the "Android device" module, which is part of the Things module. By installing this Features module you will get (almost) all you need in order to start working with your own site using the demo app.

We hope many site owners and site developers will learn about the new capabilities and try it out on their own site, giving their mobile users the next needed step in the Drupal/Mobile interaction.

Regards,
Shushu Inbar
