I have loaded CCK, FileField, and ImageField. I've enabled all three and saved configuration, but I can't seem to find how to add an image field to a content type I have created. Is there something else that needs to be turned on?

Are you selecting the right
Are you selecting the right data type? You should be able to click on manage fields next to your content type then at the bottom where you'd add a field select "file" for the data type, then choose "Image" in the form element select box.
Unless you're using User 1
Unless you're using User 1 (the user created when setting up the site), you might want to check the permissions. Even if it doesn't turn out to be permissions, I highly recommend this module for upkeeping an Admin Role that has all permissions enabled: http://drupal.org/project/adminrole
duh!
Thank you, afreeman. It was as simple as selecting "file" and then choosing "image". I'm a real newbie - when a thing does not present itself just when and where you expect it, somehow you cannot work your way through it. Although, I have to say, Lynda.com has been a Godsend - I even managed to get Clean URLs going!! Thanks again.
