User group meeting

The next Dublin Meetup is on Wednesday the 28th of November at the Birbl office on 129 Baggot Street Lower at 7pm. We're back to the usual format of presentations and demos.

If anyone has any suggestions for topics they'd like to present on, sites or modules they'd like to demo or even just things they'd like to discuss or ask questions on, then add them here!

I'd also like to thank aacraig for offering us the new space to host the meetups, and also to teck for his generous offer too.

Hope to see you there!

Things I want to discuss

Things I want to discuss include Drupal Dev Days Dublin 2013! Yes, we're hosting Drupal Dev Days next year, so we have a lot to discuss in relation to that.

Things I don't mind presenting on (if there's interest) include new modules I'm working on for handling recurring payments through Realex and also purchasing ecards through Drupal Commerce. I can also show www.oxfamireland.org as a case study.

Testing IP to Locale

Thanks for the advice yesterday evening for testing IP to Locale
http://drupal.org/project/ip2locale

Was able to manually edit the IP to Country table using the formula on this page.

Once I updated the DB and cleared the cache, it showed up as being from the test location. The nudge in this direction is much appreciated :-)

Great to meet up

Great to meet you all last night - and finally put some faces to the names I've seen floating around on Durpal.org. I've been meaning to get my act together for months to join you, so hopefully it was my first of many. Will definitely loose the bike the next time and join you for a pint.

Like Conor was at his first meeting - I have millions of questions (and possible a few more after last night) but rather than bombard you all with pages of questions, I'll try and tease out the answers over time. But I do have one current issue that I could do with some help.

I need to set-up some custom sorting in Views. I'm working on a classified ads website for the hockey community at the moment. The ads are only viewable to paid users of the website (as the ads offer users a discount). All users are affiliated to one of the hockey clubs in Ireland. So using taxonomy, when a user signs up they choose which province in Ireland their club is in (parent taxonomy) and then the name of their club (child taxonomy). The same taxonomy is used when a business posts an ad (as all businesses that are posting ads are affiliated to one of the hockey clubs as well). So basically if a user is looking for a builder, they log-in, search the listings for builders and see what offers are available.

What I need is to sort the results so that the ads from builders that are in the same hockey club of the logged in user are at the top of the results, followed by the rest of the builders that are in the same province followed by all the other builders. If anyone can point me the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a mil

Frank
