Want your site to handle postal addresses, locations, GPS traces, or other types of geospatial data? Need to display all of that onto a map? Want something more elegant or sophisticated than Google Maps?

Come learn all about making maps and handling geospatial data in Drupal.

Jeff Schuler will present strategies for storing and managing addresses in Drupal, automatically translating them to geospatial coordinates, and displaying them on custom-styled maps.

We'll also briefly cover storing other types of geospatial data, and making beautiful, custom base layers for your maps using Tilemilland MapBox, and OpenStreetMap data.

We'll primarily be looking at the following modules: Addressfield, Geofield, Geocoder, Views GeoJSON, Geofile, OpenLayers, and Leaflet.

We will begin the meetup with lightning talks and site showcases, (no Learn Sprint this time.)

This is a chance for you to do a brief presentation (~5-10 minutes) on a topic of your choice, or to show a site you've been working on. We'll allot time for 5 of these and try to keep them to about 10 minutes each.

If you'd like to present, say so in the comments here and we'll put you on the program. We're full. :) Sign up for next month's!

Lightning Talks:

Dennis Jarecke - Search API
Tony Gallo - Views
Bart McPherson - LDAP
Jarrod Rizor - Stark State College site
Will Skora - OpenStreetMap (non-Drupal but topical and awesome. :)

Come hang out for a bite, a drink, and conversation afterward...

at Becky's (5 minute walk)!
