The group is now open and you can join freely.
The big question is where do we go from here as drupal developers and users in Kenya? Am thinking meetups, training, a joint development effort...M-PESA module anyone? Let's hear your contributions.

I'm happy to see some activities @ this group also I really hope that there can be regular drupal developers and users in Kenya forum with meetups, training, support & joint development efforts (DrupalCon in Kenya) :-)
The M-Pesa Module
This particular module would go a long way @ empowering drupal solutions here in .ke and also round the world.
I'm for the idea of creating it afresh or amalgamating it into something like the commerce modules.
either way does anyone have an idea of how the back-end of M-Pesa pay bill looks like? What fields, how many fields are there and their respective data types? I think that's a step in the right direction.

Going forward
With a united front all this plans will come to pass. I mentioned the M-PESA module just as a suggestion and it is one that has been bugging me for a while :-) . Still, there's a lot for us to do out there.
My first suggestion will be to build a website for the community as our first initiative then we build on that. This is because there are a lot of drupal users in Kenya who are basically disconnected from each other.
Just thinking.

I started an initiative lately on the same. However the site is hosted on OpenShift for free at the moment until we have a clear path forward.
Been a bit held up lately so the website of course needs some love.

M-pesa Module
Well, it is a good idea...currently, I am learning how to build modules and in a few months, think will be a guru. The m-pesa module is possible so that people can send money using an e-based solution....let have a meeting soon in Nairobi, I suggest the first weekend of the year.

Very nice that the group has been revamped, I joined sometime ago, first group post, I havent used Drupal in such a long time. I see everyone is psyched I would recommend we really get committed group members that would chart the way ahead, if I remember there was a drupal meet up sometime late last year or early this one, though I dint get to attend, If another was to be set up I would not miss

Point noted. As we seek to grow of course we can't be islands for long and we'll need help. The last thing I intend to have is a situation like what existed in the earlier life of this group.
As mentioned we should deliberate on the moderator issue and build a better society here. Hiyo ni point ya maana sana.

Mpesa Module
Now that Safaricom has released API for Mpesa ,I think Kenya developers can work on it with support from SAFARICOM.What do you think?

This seems to have died.
I am not a pro developer but I will assist in any way to have this done.
I believe this will also greatly improve drupal uptake.
