September Central Florida Meetup Wrapup

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The Central Florida edition of the Florida Drupal User's Group had another great meetup on Saturday at Mind Comet's offices in Altamonte Springs. Over 15 people attended (Andrew - you guys are going to need to get a bigger conference room table) and a variety of topics were discussed.

The meetup started out (so I heard) with a discussion about DrupalCon Paris. Several attendees at the meetup actually made the trip to Paris and they relayed their experiences with the groups. Then, Marc Ray and Andrew Riley talked about Drush and all of its awesomeness (sorry I missed that!).

At that point, Ryan Price and myself arrived. There was some initial jeering at teasing at our tardiness, but we were quickly forgiven when everyone saw that we brought tasty beverages. I then gave my 45 Modules in 45 Minutes presentation from DrupalCon Paris (although it was more like 45 modules in 75 minutes).

We wrapped up the meeting with a run-through of the DrupalCamp Florida 2010 tasks. Much progress has been made, it looks like we'll have a 501(c3) host organization (thanks to Hewie and CFCS!) to better handle our finances (and to make donations tax-deductible). We have a date (2/20-2/21) and a location (Mind Comet!) all set, and the official web site is in progress. See the official planning document for all the details.

If you're not local to central Florida but would still like to help out with planning and/or marketing (I'm looking at you South Florida, Sarasota, Gainesville, and Jacksonville Drupalers), please join us on our next conference call (see the official planning document for details). If we all do a little bit, we can make this a great event!

Thanks,
-mike
