It's probably not too early to start planning a Drupal Camp for 2010, particularly since finding a venue is one of the biggest challenges and is much simpler with lots of lead time.
April/May seems like a good rough starting point for the date. Most of the other regional Drupal events are late summer/early fall. Hopefully it's far enough past the end of the Olympics not be adversely impacted, but there my be displaced events competing for the space. We'll also want to insure we don't schedule the same days as Open Web Vancouver.
To start the ball rolling we need a few people who can commit to taking a lead coordination role to start nailing down the broad strokes. Please let me know if you're interested.

count me in
Willing to do some legwork and can offer up the lab space for out of town accom, code sprint, party, etc.
ImageX Media is in...
Hey Dale,
a few of us here at ImageX Media would be happy to help organize things as well. I know at least Vanessa and myself would be. Alex is interested in helping with any design work needed.
As for when, our vote would be for May. Feel free to email me [chris at imagexmedia dot com].

Make sure it doesn't overlap with SF DrupalCon
SF DrupalCon is April 18th to 20th -- and I would say May would probably be better, could also include some repeats or follow ons from presentations at DrupalCon.
I'll help. Let's meet up and
I'll help. Let's meet up and start planning.
Initial meeting?
Can we set a date for an initial meeting? Affinity Bridge is happy to host a meeting in their meeting room in the Dominion Building - seats 7, large whiteboard, etc.

I overheard at BarCamp that there is a planning meeting next week?
Could someone post the details for those interested in helping out with the camp.

Hey Shawn, I dropped you a message via the contact form, let me know if didn't make it.
The Details
To all that are interested.
I'm going with what worked in 2008, which is a small initial planning group that expanded into a broader circle of volunteers.
Like I said in the initial post, we need a few people who can commit to taking a lead coordination role to start nailing down the broad strokes. If you're interested, leave a comment here or contact me directly via the contact form.
If you want to help but can't commit to being in the middle of things, don't worry. There will be lots of volunteer opportunities (e.g.: Website, Sponsorship, Venue) and chances to contribute as the details start to crystallize.
I'm usually in the #drupal-vancouver IRC channel if you want to chat real time.
Awesome
Great to hear that people are stepping up. We had lot of organizers for BarCamp Vancouver, and getting everyone assigned to distinct roles is great. You can't really have too many people.
When is the first planning meeting? Can you post it here in public for all those that want to attend?
Talk Drupal Camp at Mike Meyers meetup?
I'll be at the Mike Meyers meetup on Oct 6 at 5pm (http://groups.drupal.org/node/28206). Feel free to grab me if you have ideas you want to discuss.
Planning Meeting
We're meeting at:
Wednesday October 7, 2009 - 10am
Wired Monk
160-5620 152 Street,
Surrey, BC
I've made Drupal Camp an agenda item for the October meeting. Would love to hear from those people who want to be involved but can't make it to the Surrey meeting.
If you want a ride out, ping me. I'm coming from North Vancouver and could swing by downtown or Burnaby on my way in.

Hi Dale,
I'd like to help out with theming the drupalcamp site. I'll be at the meeting tomorrow since it's right in my neighborhood.
See you there!

Not going to make this one
I won't be able to make this get together on Wednesday unfortunately, but I'm definitely keen to help out with Drupal Camp Vancouver 2010. Please keep me in mind for any organizing or volunteer work that needs to get done, and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all further on this.
Cheers!
