Question about setting up users

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi all,
I am setting up a Drupal site for tournaments involving users from many clubs with the following needs:

  1. users sign up and choose the tournament(s) they are signing up for, but only ones they have been invited to.

  2. each user has an ID which is unique, assigned by the national organization

  3. Each user belongs to one club, and the tournaments are always at a club.

  4. Each tournament has one or two organizers who need to be able to see the info about the users signed up for their tournament, but regular users should only be able to see their own profile.

  5. Users will pay for each tournament they are invited to and are playing in using paypal.

I have no experience with setting this kind of site up, if you have a suggestion about when to use views, user roles and content types, I would love your input!

For example, if I create a view with all the users signed up for a specific tournament, I don't know how to make it viewable to just the organizers unless I make it a content type.

Thank you for reading this!
