This Month's Topic: Lightning Talks!
This is anyone and everyone's opportunity to give a short 5 - 10 minute presentation on any Drupal-related topic of their choice! We should be able to handle 6 - 10 presentations. Your presentation can be as simple as sharing a Drupal-epiphany you've had or as complex as giving a tutorial for some Drupal-trick you've learned. Remember, even if you feel that you are not a very advanced Drupal user, anything that you can share from your experience will help someone in the group.
If you have an idea for a presentation, please comment on this event and let us know about it! If you'd rather just show up and spontaneously present, that is OK too.
Why are we doing this?
A huge part of why Drupal is a successful open-source CMS is because of the community and especially the ability and willingness of community members to share their knowledge and help each other solve problems. We want to foster this willingness to help in everyone in our group, and we want everyone to realize that even with the lowest, most n00bish level of Drupal-knowledge, your experiences with Drupal are unique and you do have something to contribute back to the Drupal community!
In Addition - The organizers of the group will be discussing with everyone the "future" of our group. We will be discussing what our plans are for future months' meetings, what our over-arching goals are for the group and we will be trying to get ideas and input from the community about what you all would like to see the group become.

What to talk about?
I'm very excited about this. I'd be glad to to do one of the talks, but I don't know what topic to cover. (Plus, talking means I have to miss the other presentations.)
I feel like a novice compared to many of you, but I'm a real power user and pretty decent administrator and pseudo-developer. I could give behind-the-scenes looks at http://hastac.org and http://orangepolitics.org, talk about elementary CCK and Views, dig into community management, general Drupal 101... Other suggestions?
I think a 5-10 minute talk on
I think a 5-10 minute talk on Community Management would be awesome!! I don't think we've ever had a presentation on that sort of topic before.
I second the community
I second the community management idea. I'm working on a social network/community site right now, and I'd love feedback on how you engage your users, how you get return visits, how you get ppl to be involved, etc.
