channelAustin has successfully deployed an external kiosk where users of the community media center may deliver digital files on an external hard drive at any time of day or night.
Mounted on the outside of the building is an electric power supply, a box that has several firewire input connectors, and a mouse.
On the other side of the glass window is a computer monitor.
Users simply copy the digital files -- in our case .mov or .avi files -- to the alias folder on the desktop which places them into a watch folder on our Edit Share system. From there, the files are transcoded by Content Agent and then delivered back to another directory on Edit Share to wait for the Telvue server to call the file after it has been scheduled for playback.
