Hi all,

I'm finishing up a 4-part independent study course on web accessibility. See http://accessibility.micnap.com/. For the last part of the course, my initial plan was to just go through the Drupal issue queue for issues tagged with accessibility and get my hands dirty in whatever needed doing. But I thought I'd check here to see if there are any issues that are a priority for anyone or if there was anything else someone needed help with around accessibility in Drupal. I have about 15-20 hours to give away over the next few weeks to help with something. I have a decent understanding of accessibility in general, WCAG 2.0, Section 508 compliance, screen reader use, keyboard-only testing, etc. along with the typical Drupal site-building and development skills (LAMP, Git, etc.).

Thanks,
Mickey

Captioning?

Captioning features are often overlooked as part of accessibility, but its a critical feature that the deaf need to access videos. Probably a best case situation to help actually have captioning happen is to allow crowdsourced 'subtitling'.

The Universal Subtitles module seems like a good solution, but it hasn't been updated in awhile so I'm not sure if it even still works. The third-party project has since been renamed Amara, and it currently only works with Drupal 6.

Does this sound like a good project for you? ;-)

So late, but so many possibilities

Sorry for the late notice. I'm sorry I didn't see this a few weeks back.

There are always a flood of ways to contribute. Either in Drupal 8 or with the modules in Drupal 7.

If you still need some specific ideas, please let me know. Ultimately though it's a matter of finding an area you're interested in and feel you can make a contribution for.

Let us know how your project went (if it's done). Just see you're blogging about it here - http://accessibility.micnap.com/part-4
