Rob Purdie is going to be helping Greenpeace UK select a new CMS to replace their custom-built ColdFusion one. He's going to be blogging the process -- not just what applications he is looking at (Drupal is one of them), but also the actual process of selection. Definitely required reading for anyone that does consulting around helping organizations select/implement applications.
When you're planning to implement a new piece of software, prioritizing your requirements is really important because a) it helps you focus on the things that matter most and b) it makes selecting the right product way less of a crap shoot. But unless you follow a logically sound prioritization process — one that all project stakeholders understand and buy into — prioritizing requirements can be an arbitrary and unnecessarily emotional exercise (i.e. the exact opposite of what you want it to be).
Important Projects: HOW TO Prioritize Requirements (Part I)
Rob covers Step 1 (Define and weight organizational objectives and Step 2 (Define and weight user types) in this post. Rick Vugteveen posted some earlier info on Drupal.org.

Greenpeace UK looking for a Drupal/CivicSpace vendor
Hi there!
I'm working with the Greenpeace UK web team to replace their existing CMS (background info here). We've come up with a list of prioritized requirements (see: this and this) and have chosen 3 open source CMS products to evaluate as our immediate next step - Drupal, OpenACS (or rather, the current Greenpeace International implementation of OpenACS, "Planet 2") and Plone (see our requirements list here).
We are looking for a Drupal/CivicSpace shop, preferably in our time zone, to take us through a presentation on how Drupal meets our 35 highest priority requirements. We'd like that vendor to continue working with us, should we choose Drupal/CivicSpace, to plan and execute the Design and Implementation phases of our project.
Looking forward to hearing from the Drupal community :)
Best,
Rob
I know Lars Pind
I know Lars Pind who made the current OpenACS "Planet 2" solutions. Why does Greenpeace UK consider moving to another platform?

RE: I know Lars Pind
I'm not sure I follow you here, Gunnar - we're considering moving to Planet 2 or Drupal or Plone. Right now the Greenpeace UK team is using a custom ColdFusion CMS and it no longer meets their needs. Or are you asking why we don't simply choose Planet 2 (and not consider Drupal/Plone)?
OK
I thought you were already on Planet 2 - or something in that direction.
My bad
