User group meeting

So, the April meetup went pretty well, I thought. Let's have another one!

Despite the "function room" at The Golden Guinea being more of a "function cellar", I thought it worked alright. Hopefully it'll be warmer by May ;)

I've still got Jamie lined up to talk about CI, but if there's someone else who'd like to step up and give a talk on another subject too, that'd be great - please volunteer in the comments.

The last one was good, so am looking forward to the next one.

PS. might be better to create this under the Bristol group, and cross-post to Wales, rather than the other way around.

Yeah, that bothers me too. I

Yeah, that bothers me too. I don't know if you can force a group to be the primary one though. There's just a set of checkboxes for groups, from which I chose Bristol & Wales. Then it seems to pick which one is the primary group itself and for some reason always picks Wales... Maybe next time I'll try creating it with just Bristol and then edit it to include Wales.

Glad it isn't just me getting confused

I couldn't remember signing up to the Wales group...

I am happy to do a talk at

Mike Dodd's picture

I am happy to do a talk at the next meetup if you like,

  • Drupal and pdf generation
  • Multilingual Drupal setups

these are probably my best subjects but would also be happy to do a talk on;

  • Security in Drupal
  • Drupal Performance & optimisation

Better to be a geek than an idiot.
My software never has bugs. It just develops random features . . .

Cool - cheers :) I'd like to

Cool - cheers :) I'd like to see a talk on PDF generation, actually. It's something we do a lot of where I work. Let's see what other people are interested in though...

Git Flow

rrbambrey's picture

Rich S has been twisting my arm into doing a talk on using Git Flow for managing developer workflow so I'll put my remaining hand up to volunteer for that.

Ace, looks like we've got three talks

rsaddington's picture

and a great range of topics, so to propose a schedule:

7.00pm - Jamie Wiseman - Jenkins and CI
7.45pm - Mike Dodd - PDF Generation
8.30pm - Ross Bambrey - Git Flow

Would that give you each enough time to present and answer questions after?

Ru - is the function cellar booked? And will you be able to do a similar setup with the projector and screen?

Looking forward to it, if you've not signed up yet please do so we know how many to expect.

Cheers

Rich

Sounds good!

Cellar's booked, and I'll bring all the stuff I bought last time.

Well, hopefully I'll have a real projector screen by then so I don't have to lug my TV box across town ;)

If any of the speakers are bringing laptops - the projector does VGA and that's it. I'll bring my MiniDisplayPort adaptor, but if you need anything else, please bring it too.

sounds good

I like the sound of the presentations, although I'm not sure how useful the first talk would be to me. I hope nobody minds if I turn up around 7.45pm?

Haven't been to a meetup in a while, looking forward to it!

Ello,

actually it's quite likely that I'll be heading off pretty early, so chances are I'll be getting the train back home after-all. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on my account.

Chars, though :-)

Great evening of talks

Thanks all for a great evening, good to see some new faces - we may want to think about a bigger venue for June :)

A big thanks to Jamie, Mike and Ross for their talks and sharing their expertise and experience.

Cheers

Thanks again to Jamie, Mike and Ross for their food for thought. Already installed git-flow today and looking forward to its life saving qualities.

Roll on June meetup (with some lights and seats hopefully)

rupertj's picture

Yeah, I think it's time to go hunting for a bigger / nicer venue.

Anyone got any suggestions?
