Hey guys,

We'll probably follow the same sort of agenda as last time and just see how much progress was possible since then. I'll try to post notes before tomorrow evening too.

This also cross-posted to Meetup.com at:

Kind regards,
Riaan

Congratulations on the new drupal.co.za site - looking good! I see it reflecting the outcome of various conversations over the last few months, and its transition to a portal site - showing people both how to connect with the SA drupal community, and the wider community. I learnt some new things from there!

Thanks again!

A bit later than usual (time is just so limited these days): Thanks again to everyone there. Great, as always to be in a room where I feel everyone's more intelligent than I am. Attendance with apologies from Lance noted was Greg, Lee, Robin, Ivan, Alex myself and Yasin.

Yasin, especially, was super enthusiastic and enlightening ;-) My own apologies for not being terribly into TED vids ;-)

We managed to be much more productive, I think, this time around even thought he meeting was a little bit shorter. We're going to try to more virtual work too, so we can get more done between meetings.

One item I'd like to highlight for everyone's attention is a constitution for DASA. We're currently considering basing it on this document:

Model Constitution for a Voluntary Association by nonprofitlawyer.co.za
http://www.nonprofitlawyer.co.za/media/37e74ae44a34f13bffff80d47f000101.pdf

Then we want to make some changes mainly based around basing our principles on the international Drupal Association, borrowing from other national Drupal Associations and South Africa's particular needs and the final item I'd like to see if we can get some comment from all of you on to help with ideas:

We're facing a chicken-and-egg (which came first) situation with some infrastructure items. For example, to avoid any commercial control elements, we would like to only register a domain once we have a DASA, so need a constitution (among other things), but we find it hard registering associated services (Google Docs, task management solutions etc.) without a domain. So would like to expedite formal formation. As you can see on the linked document, initial members should sign up, well, initially. So if you can make it to the next meeting, we'll probably sign up then for first membership and elect a Governing Board. If you are remote and want to be a member, please also note that.

Since we want members to be all South African Drupalers, we can then create a web presence where one can register and with a glue module or two, we'll just make one provision for membership registration: that members are also a member of the South African Group on Groups.Drupal.org.

These are just ideas, so commentary would be very welcome.

One last item I was so proud of. Yasin asked about this and agreement was super fast and forthcoming from everyone: We all agreed at the last meeting that we will disclose our commercial interests and not recommend any of our or our own (each others') services when and where we act on behalf of DASA. This is over and above the part of the above document that also deals with disclosure and voting.
