User group meeting

We hope you can join us for the next meeting of the Spokane Day-Time Drupal Learning and Co-Working Group!

When
Thursday, July 11, 2013, 10 AM to noon
Note: We usually meet the 3rd Thursday of the month; in July it will be the 2nd Thursday instead
Where
Spokane County Library - Argonne branch, 4322 N. Argonne Road, Millwood. We meet in the large conference room - enter from the door out in the hallway before you go into the area with the books
What
Learning and "co-working" time - bring your laptop! Come with a project you're working on, a desire to volunteer to improve Drupal in some way (documentation, programming, design, marketing etc.), a question about Drupal you would like to get an answer to, or a desire to help others with their projects and questions. Or just come and listen and observe.
Who
Everyone is welcome -- the only prerequisite is having some interest in Drupal. This group is small and friendly, and consists mostly of people using Drupal in their work who prefer to meet during the workday to share knowledge about Drupal, and you're welcome to join us! Experience levels of attendees typically covers everything from novice to expert, so you'll fit right in.

Note: If you'd like to have a meeting at another time that is more convenient for you, please feel free to organize it! See http://groups.drupal.org/node/161584 for a Wiki where people have listed when would be convenient for them to have meetings.

We had a lively meeting yesterday, and it's great to see people getting enthusiastic about Drupal in the greater Spokane area! We had attendees coming from Mead, Post Falls, and everywhere in between, and I thought the sharing of ideas between everyone was really great. I hope everyone got most of their questions answered (as much as we could do in two hours).

Topics we discussed and/or demonstrated:
- Blocks and theme regions
- Creating custom content types with fields
- Image styles
- The Firebug web developer plugin for Firefox (couldn't work without it!)
- Sites to use for skill development and reference
- The Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit coming up in Vancouver in October (see https://groups.drupal.org/node/306683)
- And probably a few other things I've forgotten.

I've also just posted next month's meeting for August 15:
